Surface Preparation (Podium Slab)
The surface that needs to be treated needs to be free of oil, grease, wax, polish, laitance, dust, and other barrier materials. It also needs to be dry, clean, and structurally sound. All horizontal bore packing should be treated with polymer-modified mortar mixed and all vertical bore packing should be treated with non-shrink cementitious structural grout.
1. Corner Treatment (Podium Slab)
Every corner needs to be coated with a rubberized sheet that is 120 mm wide. This sheet should then be bonded using waterproofing mortar or cove joints made with mortar that has been changed with polymer.
2. Primer application (Podium Slab)
Mix according to the manufacturer’s directions and apply with a brush or roller to all areas to be waterproofed. Allow the primer to completely dry before applying the waterproofing membrane.
In the instance of cementitious waterproofing Water saturation is also adequate; it will work as a primer.
3. Material Mixing (Podium Slab)
Mixing
To achieve a well-blended mixture, make sure the materials are mixed as per the manufacturer’s instructions.
Use a drill with a paddle attachment and stir the mixture at a slow pace. Keep stirring until you obtain a uniform consistency.
You will end up with a smooth and even mixture.
4. Waterproofing Application (Podium Slab)
Mix according to the manufacturer’s directions and apply 2 coats of the waterproofing membrane with a brush or roller to all areas to be waterproofed in crisscross direction. Allow the primer to completely dry before applying the waterproofing membrane on podium slab.
In the instance of cemtitious waterproofing Water saturation is also adequate; it will work as a primer.
5. Sloping screed (Podium Slab)
After the waterproofing membrane apply a sloping screed with a minimum 50 mm slope and a slope of 1 in 100 on top of the waterproofing membrane, and cover the surface with tile or stone with an improved version of cementitious adhesives.
