Unit Conversion & metric system

As we are already discussed about metric system https://www.engineer-time.com/2018/12/the-metric-system.html. Below table shows, how can we convert some basic commonly used units.

Topic 1 Area and volume conversion

  1.  convert the units of Area

1 m2
10.76 ft2
1 m2
1.2 yd2
1 ft2
0.09 m2
1 yd2
0.84 m2
1 hectare
2.47 acres

     2. Convert the units of Volume

1 m3
35.31 ft3
1 m3
1.30 yd3
1 ft3
0.03 m3
1 yd3
o.76 m3

*1 acre = 4046.856 m2

Newton :- The SI unit of Force is newton. The formula of force is F = ma,( according to the second law of motion )

Derivation:-
  •  f = ma      (m = mass * a = acceleration)
  • 1N= ( N = newton * kg= kilogram*m=meter*s=second)
Example If we want to calculate a weight of a person into newton then we have to multiply this 0.102 kg.
     50 kg = 50 × 9.8 = 490N

Topic 2 Conversion of newton into kilogram & vice versa.

Conversion in brief

  1. N to Kg.
  2. N/mm2 to Mpa
  3. N/mm2 to kg/cm2
  4. N/m3 to kg/m3

1.     1 N = 0.102 kg or 1 kg = 9.8 N

2.           N/mm2 is equal to  Mpa (n/mm2 = mpa)

Derivation.

  • Pressure :- Force / area      (Pressure = Pascal* force=N* Area = m2)
  • Pa = N/m2
  • m2× Pa = N                   * (106 = mega)
  • 1000,000 mm2 × Pa = N
  • 106
    × pa = N/mm2
  • Mpa
    = N/mm2   Hence prove.

3.Conversion of 1 kg/mm2 into 1 N/mm2

  • kg/cm2 = 9.8 N/100 mm2    ( 1 Kg = 9.8 N * 1 cm = 10 mm)
  • kg/cm2 = 0.09 N/mm2

4.Conversion of 1 kg/m3 into 1 N/m3

  • kg/m3 = 9.8 N/m3    ( 1 Kg = 9.8 N * 1 cm = 10 mm)
  • kg/m3 = 9.8 N/m3
